The "Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig - A Place for Healing Our Youth" - "Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying - Where Did We Come From?" is an Indigenous Youth Agency dedicated to providing programming and services to support Indigenous youth in North America. Childcare Manager will work under the supervision of Director of Toronto and perform the following
job duties:
Provide leadership, supervision, and support to childcare staff, including Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) and assistants.
Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Ministry of Education guidelines, and all licensing standards.
Develop and monitor program plans that reflect the Early Learning Framework and Indigenous cultural teachings.
Oversee staff scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
Conduct regular program observations, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and community partners.
Manage administrative tasks including enrollment, waitlist management, and parent communication.
Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.
Participate in budgeting, resource planning, and centre improvements.
Ensure a team approach.
Ensuring a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach that is responsive to the diverse needs of Indigenous Community members.
Other related duties to this position.
Qualifications
Diploma in Early Childhood Education and current registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a licensed childcare setting.
Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and licensing requirements.
Experience working with Indigenous children, families, and communities is a strong asset.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Current First Aid/CPR Level C certification or willingness to get certified
Knowledge of Indigenous culture, language, and traditions.
Experience in staff mentoring, team building, and program evaluation.
Ability to integrate culturally relevant and land-based practices into childcare programming.
Adequate energy and ability to meet the physical, and mental demands of the position.
Valid Driver's License is a mandatory requirement
A positive, fun-loving attitude.
Ability to work as a team and be self-motivated.
Cleared Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC) is mandatory.
