Position Summary and Responsibilities
As a Full Time, Childcare Cook, you will work alongside the staff and families at our Child Care Centre location. You will plan, prepare and provide well balanced and nutritious meals and snacks which meet the needs of children and other agency food services in an organized and hygienic setting, within food budget guidelines. The cook is also responsible for all meal prep, shopping, kitchen and post cleaning, kitchen equipment management and kitchen safety. Our Childcare staff must ensure open, ongoing communication between parents/guardians of children and staff members/volunteers as well as maintain confidentiality regarding issues with staff, volunteers and program participants. Our staff members are encouraged to actively participate in association initiatives involving campaigns, fundraising programs and other educational and promotional initiatives.
Qualifications
Food Handlers Course
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of, and appreciation for the mission, vision and values of the YMCA
A current criminal reference and child abuse registry check must be provided.
Experience working with Children ages 3 months to 5 years of age
Ability to cook for large groups in an organized and timely manner.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training.Having these documents ready for the interview is recommended.
