We are looking for a creative, confident, and passionate
Child Care Center Cook
to join our nature-inspired early learning community. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the health, well-being, and development of 95 children each day by preparing nourishing, plant-forward meals that are both balanced and child-friendly. Your creativity, organization, and love for food will help spark curiosity and learning, as our educators strive to make food a meaningful part of the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals and snacks that meet dietary guidelines for children under 6.
Create menus that are balanced, culturally inclusive, and respectful of dietary restrictions, while being inviting and enjoyable for young children.
Embrace a primarily
plant-based
kitchen environment, integrating seasonal produce and offerings from our
onsite organic garden
.
Ensure safe food handling, proper storage, preparation, and sanitation practices in line with public health regulations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen space with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrate excellent
time management
to meet mealtime schedules while supporting the overall flow of the center.
Engage with children during mealtimes to promote healthy habits and respond to their feedback in a respectful, developmentally appropriate way.
Collaborate with educators to explore ways food can enhance children's play, projects, and inquiry.
Track inventory, monitor food usage, and place supply orders as needed.
Qualifications:
Valid
driver's license
and
Food Handler's Certification
required.
Previous experience as a cook in a childcare, school, or restaurant setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and plant-based meal preparation.
Demonstrated ability to design
creative, child-friendly menus
that meet nutritional needs.
Comfort working in a dynamic, child-centered environment and openness to feedback from both children and team members.
Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
