Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a part time, 12 hours per week, Child & Youth Care Worker in EDMONTON to join our Safe House team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community
This position has a weekly schedule of Saturday or Sunday 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. One week would be Sunday 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and following week would be Saturday 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Program Overview:
The Safe House program is a short term residential group program for high risk youth that have been exposed to substance, physical and mental abuse, sexual exploitation, physical/mental trauma, etc. This program supports youth to reduce their involvement in high risk behaviours using harm reduction principles and practices including circle of courage philosophy, strength based and resiliency focused assessments, which promote empowerment and stabilization. With counselling and support, clients work on developing skills to manage the high risk activities while working on personal goals to be able to transition to a long term residential program.
Job Summary:
As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of the child/youth and parent/guardian, providing counselling and teaching basic life, community, and family living skills while ensuring basic needs are met (food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, safety).
