Job Summary:



Applications are now being accepted for a Child Development Supervisor 1 position with East Richmond Community Association's Licensed Out-of-School Care Programs. Reporting to the Child Development Supervisor 2, this position is responsible for the overall operation of licensed school-aged care programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Programming



Participate in the creation, planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate children's programs that address the needs of the whole child - socially, physically, intellectually, creatively and emotionally and which respect the diversity of families within the program. As a team, plan, organize and evaluate child-centered group activities that benefits each child. Prepare and assist children with eating snacks and toileting.

Supervisory



Assist Supervisor II to oversee and direct staff in school-aged childcare programs. Assist Supervisor II to interview and hire staff; conduct staff orientation related to program environment and staff manual; facilitate regular staff meetings; provide staff with a shift schedule and conduct staff evaluations.

Customer Service/Communication



Develop and demonstrate child guidance techniques; encourage children to take responsibility for their actions and to develop problem-solving skills. Promote family participation in special events and fund raising; encourage family and child development and act as a resource for families. Ensure staff maintain regular communication with families; ensure families receive monthly activity and snack calendars prior to the beginning of each month. Assist Supervisor II in liaising between the program, schools, and community professionals; liaise between instructors and Coordinator or Director.

Safety/Risk Management



Ensure the physical and emotional program environment is safe for children. Document children's unusual behavioural and developmental changes in confidential book; sign off on all accidents, contagious illnesses and licensing incident reports; report suspicions of child abuse to Supervisor II. Ensure staff are aware of emergency procedures and the location of safety equipment. Ensure all programs meet provincial licensing requirements. Monitor children in indoor and outdoor activities. Oversee the set up of the program room (i.e., play and study areas).

Administrative



Assume Supervisor II duties in his/her absence. Assist Supervisor II in the maintenance and reconciliation of monthly budgets. Book out-trips including transportation. Responsible to fill out accident report forms. Other related duties as assigned and may vary according to facility.

Required Qualifications:



Licensing requirements submitted prior to start date:

A minimum of one year experience working with children. Completed a course, or a combination of courses, or work experiences of at least 20 hours in child development, guidance, health and safety, nutrition or other childcare related topics. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience. 19+ years of age. Standard or Emergency First Aid and CPR. Police Information Check. Immunization records. BCRPA High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification (can be acquired after hiring) Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal record check.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Desired Qualifications:



Dogwood/High School Diploma Experience working with children that require extra support. Early Child Education Diploma. Class IV driver's license.

Pay: $23.23-$26.15 per hour
