TEMPORARY POSITION - MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE



THE ROLE


We're seeking a passionate and dedicated

Supported Child Development Consultant

to join our team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. In this role, you'll help families of children with developmental delays or disabilities access inclusive childcare. You'll provide planning, training, resources, and hands-on support to help integrate children with extra support needs into typical childcare settings.

Working under the guidance of the Supported Child Development Supervisor, you'll collaborate closely with families, childcare providers, and community partners to ensure the best outcomes for each child.

THE PROGRAM


The

Supported Child Development Program (SCDP)

promotes inclusive childcare for children with developmental delays or disabilities. Through individualized support plans, training, and resource sharing, the program helps families access quality childcare while ensuring that children receive the specialized support they need to thrive.
SCDP operates within a multidisciplinary framework and is grounded in the principles of inclusion and family-centered practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Build respectful, supportive relationships

with an assigned caseload of families, providing empathetic and effective guidance tailored to their needs.

Develop and implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs)

that identify goals, strategies, and supports to promote each child's development and inclusion. Review and adjust plans as needs evolve.

Collaborate with childcare settings

, providing on-site training, consultation, and support to ensure ISPs are successfully implemented and sustained.

Provide training and resources

to families, childcare providers, and other service partners, helping create environments that promote inclusion and participation.

QUALIFICATIONS



Post-secondary degree in a related field (Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, etc.); a master's degree is strongly preferred. Excellent understanding of the theory, principles, and goals of family-centered practice. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children requiring extra support, including at least 1 year in childcare settings. Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word). Current First Aid certification. Compliance with provincial immunization and tuberculosis control requirements. Satisfactory Criminal Record Search. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License, clean Driver's Abstract, and access to a safe, reliable vehicle. Physician's assessment confirming good physical and mental health.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.03-$50.59 per hour
