The Chief Scientist, Critical Care will tactically or strategically integrate within priority areas of need to assure timely, focused deliverables aligned with strategic direction. This role will support both on-market product and new product development initiatives through application of:

  • Scientific rigor across all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • Strong attention to detail and experimental design principles
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities with a structured and methodical approach
  • Extensive chemistry domain knowledge (electrochemical devices and materials science).

  • Supporting, developing, and implementing scientific strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensuring scientific rigor and delivery of high-quality research outputs.
  • Leading the development of new diagnostic technologies, products or processes, as required.
  • Addressing complex technical challenges in development projects with structure and purpose, as required. Leveraging Siemens Healthineers tools and processes where applicable.
  • Ensuring all design changes and research activities comply with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Driving technical resolution of challenges for on-market lifecycle management projects, as required. Leveraging Siemens Healthineers tools and processes where applicable.
  • Fostering partnerships with academic institutions, industry partners, and government agencies, as required, to support business objectives.
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing more junior scientists, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Maintaining market technology awareness, ensuring all valuable research advancements or solutions are filed for IP protection to secure competitive position in the market.
The required skills to align for success in this role are:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science or a related field.
  • 15 + years of experience with electrochemical devices and/or sensing technologies
  • 5 + years working in a senior leadership role managing large scale R&D projects and/or teams
  • Proven track record of successful product development and technical problem-solving
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Additionally, the following are a preferred skill set for consideration:
  • You have a strong publication and/or patent record in the area of electrochemical devices
  • Experienced with regulatory submissions and compliance
  • A familiarity with in-vitro diagnostic technologies
