Swan River First Nation is seeking an experienced and motivated
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
to provide strong leadership and strategic direction for our Nation's administration and operations.
The CEO will work closely with
Chief and Council
to oversee programs, services, and departments -- ensuring that all initiatives align with the community's vision, uphold accountability, and promote the well-being and success of our members both on- and off-reserve.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and guide all SRFN departments in alignment with Chief and Council priorities.
Manage budgets, reporting, and financial accountability.
Supervise department directors and staff to ensure effective operations.
Oversee funding proposals, partnerships, and agreements with external agencies.
Develop governance policies that promote transparency and accountability.
Represent Swan River First Nation in meetings and partnerships with governments, industry, and organizations.
Support community development and economic growth initiatives.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in
Business Administration, Public Administration, or Indigenous Governance
(or equivalent experience).
Minimum
5 years of progressive management experience
, preferably in a First Nation or Indigenous organization.
Strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills.
Knowledge of Indigenous governance, Treaty rights, and government funding systems.
Assets:
Experience with ISC, Alberta Indigenous Relations, or similar agencies; familiarity with administrative software (e.g., BrightHR, QuickBooks, Sage); and understanding of community and infrastructure development.
