Reporting to the Site Manager, as well as liaison with the Energy Manager, the Chief Engineer plans, organizes,
leads and monitors the work of Third Class Co Generation Building Operators and Trades in the operation and maintenance of
physical plant equipment at one of Hamilton Health Sciences sites. Major duties include; supervising the daily
operations, maintenance activity, modification projects and installation of new facilities related to the physical plant;
leading Co Generation Building Operators, Trades and contractors in accordance with regulatory codes and standards and with corporate and departmental standards and practice; undertaking investigations and studies in the preparation of energy
savings, projects and behavioral initiatives; developing the justification cases to support the undertaking; coordinating
with other Supervisors to lead employees and direct contractors to sustain operations and maintenance activities; liaising
with customers and clients to create a high level of service and to investigate.
Qualifications
1. Holds (and maintains) a current Ontario Provincial Certificate of Qualification as a 2nd Class Stationary Engineer
2. Minimum 5 years progressive and related experience as a shift engineer
3. Demonstrated Supervisory experience
4. Demonstrated ability to write procedures and investigative reports
5. Strong leadership, managerial, communications and inter-personal skills
