Origins International Education is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable
Chess Instructor
to lead engaging and educational chess sessions for students ranging from beginner to advanced levels. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a love for teaching and a solid background in chess theory and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver structured chess lessons tailored to student age and skill level
Teach fundamental rules, strategies, tactics, and game analysis
Foster critical thinking, sportsmanship, and confidence through chess
Prepare students for in-house tournaments and external competitions
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents or coordinators
Create a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment
Promote chess as a tool for cognitive development and academic enhancement
Qualifications:
Strong chess background; rating of 1600+ (CFC, USCF, or equivalent) preferred
Prior experience teaching or coaching chess to children or teens
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Passionate about education and student growth
Reliable, punctual, and professional in demeanor
Preferred Assets:
Teaching certificate or relevant coaching credentials
Experience coaching for chess clubs, camps, or school programs
Familiarity with scholastic chess tournaments and formats
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal, Freelance, Internship / Co-op
Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
