We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Chemicals Assessor to work at the forefront of chemical assessment science. As part of the Ricardo Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology (ECT) team, you will address key challenges in the hazard and risk assessment and the regulation of chemicals. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts across Ricardo\xe2\x80\x99s multidisciplinary organisation, and externally with academic, industry and regulatory partners. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to make a real contribution toward the safe and sustainable use of chemicals.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering technical excellence in hazard and risk assessment of chemicals for Ricardo clients.
  • Managing the delivery of projects, providing support and oversight for junior staff.
  • Enhancing the Ricardo ECT team\xe2\x80\x99s reputation through engagement in scientific research activities.
  • Providing input and support to strategy and business development activities.
Key competencies and experience
  • Educated to Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree level or higher in environmental toxicology, chemistry, biology or a related discipline with a minimum of three years\xe2\x80\x99 post-graduate experience.
  • Hazard and risk assessment of chemicals in an EU regulatory context (e.g. REACH, BPR, PPP, etc).
  • A track record of scientific excellence, including publishing and presenting research, either independently or in collaboration with other partners or institutes.
  • Specialist expertise in specific technical areas or classes of chemicals.

  • Dynamic, highly motivated, and productive individual.
  • Passionate about assessing and managing chemicals, and eager to make an impact in this area.
  • Able to manage one\xe2\x80\x99s own workload but also work collaboratively and effectively within a team.
  • Influencing and the ability to communicate complex information to different audiences.
