Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dispatch Supervisor, the DEDICATED CHARTER DRIVER is responsible for driving company owned vehicles in a safe and professional manner transporting Retail and Schools customers to their destination. The role is focused on our growing business in Charter Opportunities.

Successful candidate(s) would need to be able to provide a high degree of customer service in a fast-paced work environment while embracing the unique duties of an intercity charter driver. You will be representing the Voyago brand maintaining our respected reputation in the transportation industry and growing new business as a result of your professionalism.

This position includes the following duties:

- Driving charters on weekdays, weekends and evenings, sometimes with overnight stays

- Ability to travel long distances in all types of weather

- Confidence in navigating long highway travel situations as well as dense urban driving in large cities.

- Upgrade training internally with Voyago for Wheelchair Buses if not already certified.

This is a full time (30+ hours per week) hourly position paid at $20.00/ hour for the hours worked as a Charter Driver.

As a DEDICATED CHARTER DRIVER you will not be subject to the Schools Calendar and may be asked to work charters on any day of the week, including Statutory Holidays, School Holidays and during the Summer Break (July and August). Since the hours of Dedicated Charter Driver duties paired with school bussing will reach 30 hours per week consistently, you will be eligible for company benefits as a full time employee after 3 months.

For times when Charters are not scheduled, you will be asked to offer the company 5 hours of your paid time per day Monday to Friday for spare driver work either within Schools or as a transfer driver between yards. We will continue to adhere to MTO Guidelines for Hours of Service within your role(s).

Requirements:

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications that include, but are not limited to, the following: * B license

  • Possess clean driving record and Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Excellent proven customer service experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ottawa and a wide surrounding area. Familiarity with other city driving (ex. Montreal, Toronto etc)
  • Good organization and communications skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • An understanding of vehicle for hire industry.
  • Knowledge of wheelchair tie downs and q-straint.
  • Agree to adhere to Uniform Requirements.
