We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Personal Support Worker to provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including home, community, and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the well-being and independence of clients through personalized support and attentive caregiving. This role involves working closely with clients who have diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or autism. The Certified Personal Support Worker will play a vital role in promoting safety, comfort, and dignity for those under their care.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor and record patient observations, vital signs, and overall health status
Administer medications and assist with medication management according to care plans
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
Implement and follow personalized care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare teams
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility support
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and sanitation
Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
Document all care activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies
Support clients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care
Skills
Valid certification as a Personal Support Worker or equivalent credential
Experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care environments
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring
Ability to assist with ADLs and provide comprehensive patient care with compassion and professionalism
Familiarity with medication administration protocols and care plan implementation
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required; experience with Hoyer lifts is a plus
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
Experience working with diverse populations including seniors, people with disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, or memory-related conditions such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia
CPR and First Aid certification preferred; ongoing training in hospice or home health care is advantageous
