Experienced Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Complex Care Client ( King, ON)

Immediately (1 session per week, with gradual increase)

About the Role

Modern Angels Healthcare is seeking an

experienced and highly skilled Personal Support Worker (PSW)

to support a client living with

post-concussive symptoms (MVA 2020), Functional Neurological Disorder, and complex psychiatric/psychosocial needs.

The client has a busy therapy schedule, lives with a dependent teenage child (with developmental delay/Down Syndrome), and a spouse . The ideal PSW will demonstrate

emotional intelligence, resilience, flexibility, and strong professional boundaries

in order to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care within the home.

This role will begin gradually with

one daytime session per week

, with the possibility of expanding to

evenings and weekends

as comfort and trust are built.

Key Responsibilities

Provide

personal care and companionship

in alignment with client needs and comfort. Assist with

meal preparation, cooking, light housekeeping, and organizing tasks.

Support client with daily routines while respecting personal boundaries and preferences. Adapt care approaches for

brain injury-related challenges, OCD behaviors, and psychiatric conditions.

Work collaboratively with family members while maintaining

professionalism and strong boundaries.

Wear and maintain

required PPE at all times

(gown, gloves, mask, hair net, booties). Demonstrate

problem-solving and adaptability

in dynamic and sometimes difficult home environments.

Requirements

Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certification

(Ontario).

Minimum 5+ years of experience

working in complex home care or hospital settings. Proven experience supporting clients with: Brain injuries Psychiatric disorders High-stress or challenging family dynamics

Fluent, clear English communication

(spoken and written). Strong

emotional intelligence, calm demeanor, and empathetic personality.

Ability to remain

confident, assertive, and professional

under pressure. Dependable, flexible, and adaptable to changing schedules and client needs. Willingness to comply with strict

PPE requirements

in the home. Comfortable working in a

multi-provider household

with unique family dynamics.

Preferred Attributes

Secure in professional boundaries while remaining compassionate. Demonstrated ability to

de-escalate conflict

and manage difficult interactions. Previous experience with families involving dependent children with special needs is an asset.

Cultural & Language Preferences

To best support the client and ensure strong rapport, the family has expressed a preference for PSWs who are:

Tagalog-speaking

Italian-speaking

Caucasian background
