We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and administrative procedures, ensuring efficient office operations and exceptional patient service. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers while facilitating smooth interactions between patients and medical staff. Applicant should be a legal resident of Canada and criminal background check is required due to sensitive nature of job.
Responsibilities
Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients, answering multi-line phone systems, and scheduling appointments.
Maintain accurate medical records (confirmation of date of birth, current address and telephone number) and documentation.
Be familiar with the WCB and ICBC visit forms & billing.
Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system ( Med Access) for patient data management.
Should be familiar with preparing the patient for appropriate exams and to take Vital signs, Urine dipstick , Pregnancy test, and to document in the patient visit.
Process medical collections for MSP uninsured services (e.g., preparing document request from the lawyers, WCB, ICBC, Insurance companies etc.) according to the office policies.
Scanning reports and documents in the EMR, typing, and managing correspondence.
Foster a welcoming environment for patients by demonstrating excellent customer service skills and effective phone etiquette.
Skills
Proficient in medical terminology .
Familiarity with EMR systems (preferably Med Access)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is an advantage.
Excellent typing skills with proficiency in 10-key typing for accurate data entry.
Knowledge of health information management principles .
