Enhance athletic performance for tennis, badminton, and squash. Classes build athleticism and improve speed, strength, and stability in a supportive, high-intensity group setting.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver progressive, racquet-sport-specific sessions (warm-up ? movement prep ? main blocks ? cool down). Coach movement quality (landing mechanics, decel/braking, change-of-direction, acceleration), mobility, stability, and basic strength patterns suitable for youth and adult learners. Integrate injury-prevention principles (shoulder/hip/knee care, trunk stability) and age-appropriate load management. Scale/regress exercises for mixed abilities; maintain a safe, positive, high-energy environment. Track attendance and simple progress markers (RPE, movement competencies, baseline tests). Communicate clearly with athletes, parents/guardians, and the Summer Smash Tennis team; uphold our standards and progression. Set up/tear down equipment; ensure spaces are tidy and safe.

Required Qualifications

Current fitness certification such as CSEP-CPT, NSCA-CPT/CSCS, ACE, NASM, or BCRPA Registered Fitness Leader (or equivalent). Demonstrated experience coaching youth athletic development and/or small-group fitness. Strong grasp of movement fundamentals: sprint mechanics, agility/COD, strength basics, mobility & stability. Clear Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) prior to start. Professional, punctual, collaborative; able to follow a progression and deliver consistent session quality.

Preferred Qualifications

CSCS or CSEP-CEP; NCCP Multi-Sport modules; prior S&C work with racquet-sport athletes. Experience coaching return-to-play/general population injury-prevention (within scope). Current First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain promptly).

Hours & Compensation

Term: Fall/Winter block (Nov - Dec) with potential renewal for subsequent terms. Hours: As per schedule above; opportunity for add-on sessions as demand grows. Pay: $40-$60/hour, commensurate with certification level and experience. We support professional development and may subsidize workshops/certifications aligned with the role.
