About the Opportunity:

NZ Builders has an opening for a Red Seal Carpenter.. This role will be performing carpentry, working with teams of carpenters, apprentices and labourers and ensuring that projects meet NZ Builders high standards, along with our clients needs and goals. Duties:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches and/or take instructions from the Site Foreman
• Work safely and efficiently under minimal supervision
• Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations
• Perform layout, material take-off, planning sequences of work
• Be proficient in all aspects of construction from site-prep, formwork, concrete, framing, building envelope, siding and interior finishing
• Maintain an organized and tidy work area
• Inspect homes and conduct repairs/maintenance

About You:

• Red Seal or Journeyman carpenter (equivalent experience will be considered on a case by case basis)
• Passionate about sustainable high performance building
• Excellent knowledge of carpentry techniques, methods of installation and construction
• Exceptional at exterior insulation application, flashing details, slate, metal roofing and cladding installation
• Exceptional hand-cut roof heavy timber beam installation.
• Experience in working independently and part of a team to produce high quality work
• Good communicator and looking to grow in your professional career
• Proficient with electrical tools and manual equipment (powered saw, hammers, rulers, lasers, levels etc.)
• Willingness to perform all tasks safely and follow all applicable legislation and company safety guidelines at all times
• Good physical condition and stamina
• Enjoys having a good time at work, dry humor and a good bit of banter

We want someone with the following characteristics:

Requirements

• Trade Certification or equivalent experience
• Excellent knowledge of carpentry techniques, methods of installation and construction
• Exceptional at exterior insulation application, flashing details, slate, metal roofing and cladding installation
• Exceptional hand-cut roof heavy timber beam installation.
• Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saw, hammers, rulers, lasers, levels etc.)
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
• Good knowledge of English
• Good understanding of basic math
• Good physical condition and endurance
• Enjoy dry humor and a good bit of banter, awards are given annually.
