The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of the Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 in 38 schools. Qualifications
Must possess a valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certificate
Music Undergraduate Degree
Bachelor of Education
Master\'s degree in Administration/Leadership or equivalent
Minimum of Five (5) years of successful teaching experience in Music
Budgeting experience is an asset
Scheduling experience is an asset
PLEASE PROVIDE A COVER LETTER WHICH DESCRIBES HOW YOU MEET THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ARTS EDUCATION CONSULTANT RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and support Arts programs from Grades P-12. These include dance, drama, band, music and visual arts.
Facilitate implementation of any new curriculum in arts subject area.
Support arts teachers within their classrooms through visits and feedback.
Facilitate relationships between administrators and art teachers.
Plan for professional growth of Arts Education teachers.
Track numbers of students in arts programming to plan for recruitment and retention, with special attention to African NS and Mi\'kmaq students.
Facilitate reporting terms for Grade 4-6 band and Grade 6 Visual Art.
Plan, facilitate and promote arts events (such as Art Exhibits, Music Monday, Dance Week, DramaFest, etc.).
Partner with community arts groups for school-community programming.
Facilitate scheduling of itinerant art teachers.
Maintain system inventory for instruments.
Share passion for the arts and advocate for its programs.
Any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator or the Director of Programs & Student Services.
Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement
