Catering Sales Manager

GENERAL

Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier, located on the waterfront of North Vancouver, is a 106-room full-service boutique hotel featuring 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space. We are looking for a Catering Sales Manager who must be a multi-faceted and driven to always exceed our guests' expectations.

ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Catering, the Catering Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, selling and managing catering events from initial booking to completion and final billing. This includes corporate meetings and conferences, weddings and social events.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Function as a member of the Catering Team to meet the business objectives of the Sales & Catering Department. Organizes and manages the planning and delivery of events. Prepares concise estimates, contracts, floor plans, banquet event orders (BEO), and event resumes. Prepare accurate contracts in a timely fashion for client approval and signature. Conduct site inspections; respond to inquiries and catering requests promptly. Organize events effectively with an acute sense of detail and the ability to anticipate our clients' needs. Up-sell the hotel's services and products, suggesting suitable events, activities, floor plans and menus. Proactively seek out new and potential clients while maintaining relationships with current clients. Work closely with the client throughout the event, ensuring a successful outcome. Work closely with the client to coordinate food and beverage content and requirements throughout the planning stages and site inspections as required. Manage meetings & events room blocks with pick-up, rooming lists, attrition, and cancellation. Working with the DOS, proactively formulate and strategize ways to increase event bookings. Liaise with the accounting department on accurate customer billing, credit applications, deposits, etc. Attend weekly BEO meetings and prepare reports for hotel management as required Establish good rapport with industry partners and stakeholders. Other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum three years in a sales or similar role within the hospitality industry Minimum two years' catering or events management experience in a similar environment. Experienced and knowledgeable of handling large catering events would be an asset. Bachelor's degree in Hotel Sales or Events Management or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills to present customer-centric proposals and discuss technical information. Self-motivated individual who is organized and able to set and achieve goals for themselves in alignment with the department and hotel's overall revenue goals. Display strong initiative and ability to make sound decisions independently. Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, efficiency and accuracy. Demonstrated knowledge of hospitality CRM systems and software such as Opera would be an asset. Demonstrated advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
