Position Overview:
The Catering & Events Manager at Moxy Halifax Downtown is responsible for handling all event and catering opportunities and executing innovative brand activations. This dynamic role directly reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing and plays a crucial role in engaging all visiting audiences with vibrant and memorable Moxy events. The ideal candidate embodies Moxy's spirited, playful, and bold ethos while driving brand awareness and financial performance through strategic event planning.
Event & Catering Sales:
Identify, contract, and close event, catering and social business opportunities, ensuring timely and proper turnover for quality service delivery.
Revenue Growth:
Achieve and exceed hotel catering sales revenue goals by actively upselling each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
Event Planning & Execution:
Oversee all aspects of event planning, from client consultations to post-event evaluation, ensuring seamless execution and memorable guest experiences.
Brand Activations:
Lead the creation and execution of innovative Moxy brand activations with the support of the Director of Sales that enhances guest engagement and brand loyalty.
Client Engagement:
Engage with clients to understand their event objectives, provide expert recommendations on menus, decor, and entertainment, and maintain strong client relationships.
Cross-Department Coordination:
Work closely with internal hotel departments and external vendors to ensure smooth event execution, maintaining Moxy's high service standards.
Budget & Financial Management:
Develop and manage budgets for catering and events, ensuring profitability while maintaining brand integrity.
On-Site Event Oversight:
Manage all on-site event operations, proactively addressing issues and ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
Customer Loyalty & Service Excellence:
Implement Moxy's service strategy and brand initiatives throughout the sales process to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Post-Event Analysis:
Collect feedback, conduct event performance reviews, and identify opportunities for improvement in future events.

Responsibilities:
Lead Event Planning and Execution:
Design and implement a calendar of activations that enhance the Moxy guest experience and increase hotel regional and local visibility with the support of the Director of Sales and final approval from the Moxy Captain.
Coordinate with various departments in the hotel to ensure seamless execution of all events and activations.
Collaborate with Property Sales and Marketing, Operations, F&B, Finance, Revenue teams, and all other key partners.
Lead and participate in both weekly and monthly activations to actively engage guests, and staff (if applicable), and gather live feedback during all planned Moxy events.
Execute exemplary guest service to drive guest satisfaction and loyalty before, during, and after activation/events.
Book, manage, and execute contracted catering events, including Christmas parties, weddings, and other private events with less than 10 rooms peak; ensuring these events align with Moxy's brand and deliver memorable experiences.
Service all events contracted by the Sales Team with more than 10 rooms peak and meeting space.
Attend Weekly BEO Meetings to update the Ops Team on the 30-day Events Forecast including Guarantee Numbers, Special Set-Ups, and Menu Selection Updates.
Marketing and Promotion:
Work closely with the Social Media Manager and Director of Sales to utilize social platforms, traditional and non-traditional marketing channels to market events/activations to drive attendance.
Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Regional Director to craft compelling promotional materials that resonate with the target audience.
Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to craft social media content that resonates with the target audience.
Performance Measurement:
With the support of the Director of Sales, analyze event performance and generate detailed reports on social media engagement, guest satisfaction scores, and any other metrics to help measure the activation.
Adjust strategies based on analytics and guest feedback to continuously improve event offerings.
Provide the Director of Sales and Captain a detailed bi-weekly report of all meetings and activations deployed with the status and ROI of such events or activations to drive market awareness or revenues.
Financial Management:
Manage assigned budgets for activations, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
Compile and submit detailed expense reports every two weeks for approval by The Captain, specifying the activations associated with these expenditures.
Adhere to preset budgeted costs for activation initiatives, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
Additional Responsibilities:
Stay updated on industry, Moxy brand trends, and local events to keep the hotel's offerings fresh and appealing.
Provide on-site support to Ops team members during weekly and monthly activations to ensure desired outcomes and execution of these Moxy events.
Assist with site tours of the hotel as required.
Regularly meet with the Director of Sales and The Captain each week to ensure ongoing communication about activations and events and to discuss how the hotel leadership team can support the Catering and Events Manager.
Source and purchase relevant materials or resources to execute weekly and monthly activations.
Ensure all Banquet Event Orders are in place promptly and distributed to the Ops Team ahead of time to prepare.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Event Planning, Business, or a related years of experience.
Proven experience in catering sales, event planning, or hospitality management, preferably within a hotel setting.
Exceptional sales, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create, plan, and execute high-energy brand activations aligned with the Moxy ethos.
Strong negotiation skills for vendor and client management.
Proficiency in event management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
