Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Category Manager - Livestock and Farm Hardware, on a permanent full-time basis. This position can be located out of Saskatoon, SK, Edmonton, AB, Calgary, AB, Regina, SK or Winnipeg, MB, and for the right candidate remote work options could be considered.

What you'll do:

Under the direction of the HABS Category Development Manager and the support of the Feed Purchasing Manager and Ag Equipment Managers, you will be responsible for development of programs, product assortments, training, budgeting, and marketing strategies within their respective categories.

  • You will develop the strategy (short to mid-term) and execution plan to ensure products and programs are marketed to consumers based on the needs of a changing consumer and marketplace. The portfolio will include but is not limited to animal supplies, livestock equipment, bagged feed, farm hardware, engines, farm equipment accessories, and manufactured feed programs.
  • You will understand, analyze, and use CRS and industry data to compare pricing, product, and programs to ensure we are competitive in the industry. You will then use this data to create and execute strategies to grow the sections and align with department (Feed, Crop Supplies, and HABS) objectives and KPI's.
  • You will manage the categories to achieve targeted objectives of sales, margins, inventories, turns, and service levels.
  • You will negotiate and source new or existing products and programs either independently or through system buying groups to meet the needs of our customer. Identify emerging trends, opportunities and challenges that will affect business going forward.
  • You will develop, maintain, and control internal pricing structures at item level, to meet targeted objectives.

Who you are:

  • You have a degree in Agriculture and/or Business.
  • You have a minimum of 6-9 years related experience in the Feed and/or Livestock business (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
