Assistant Category Manager Career Opportunity

The Dufresne Group is currently seeking an Assistant Category Manager for our Dufresne Merchandising Team within our Home Office located at 147 Commerce Drive in Winnipeg, MB.

As an Assistant Category Manager, you will be responsible for the administration, data maintenance and data integrity of product information in the inventory system including item numbers, pricing, and inventory to support the buying function.

As an Assistant Category Manager, you will:
  • Ensure accurate data entry of all product information into the product database and website.
  • Create and maintain exclusivity lists, lifestyle allocation grids, core lineup, and product association grids.
  • Manage inventory movements between buckets and to the stores.
  • Sales analysis at the series level to provide recommendations for core line up to maximize sales.
  • Compile, organize, and format reports used for weekly Sales updates including information on new products, price changes, discontinued items, etc.
  • Provide reports upon request to support the analysis of business plans and to assist with developing category plans.
  • Conduct and maintain competitive line-ups, conduct competitive shops, and gather competitor information.
  • Prepares price tags for all products, including for promotional events.
  • Supports advertising through submission of all advertising product offers, proofing, and post promotional analysis.
  • Manage inventory to budget.
  • Respond to store and/or vendor inquiries or requests.
  • Other duties as required.
As a successful candidate you will have the following:
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing or related field or combination of related education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in related field.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Analytical and critical thinker.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with inventory management, item data maintenance, and understanding of supply chain processes.
  • Motivated for continuous growth and improvement.
  • Demonstrates the company's Values.
