ABOUT LIQUOR & CANNABIS
The Liquor & Cannabis Division supports progressive developments in both industries while building strong relationships with stakeholders and collecting revenue for the General Revenue Fund. It is responsible for managing both product supply chains in Alberta via both external warehousing solutions and a third party logistics partner. The liquor industry is also supported through Liquor Program Services and Liquor Planning & Reporting Services. The cannabis industry is supported by the Operations branch as well as the Product & Stakeholder Management area.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cannabis Division is looking for an energetic and skilled individual to join our team as a Category Management Assistant.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Product & Stakeholder Management, this position is responsible for supporting four (4) Category Management Specialists within the Cannabis portfolio as it relates to the overall wholesale volume, product innovation, and for new products initial order quantities.

This position participates in category product calls and assists the Category Management Specialists in developing analyses for the monthly product calls. They are responsible for developing presentations for in-person meetings for the Specialists and will assist in presenting when necessary. This position also acts as the primary point of contact for Licensed Producers (LPs) and other internal departments and will lead the onboarding process for new LPs. They are also responsible for ensuring that all product and vendor details are up to date and work closely with the Merchandise Coordinators to ensure accuracy of the Product Master and appropriate overall sku maintenance.

To be successful in this role you will need solid working knowledge of how a commercial wholesale distribution model functions in order to work with the Merchandise Planners to establish appropriate initial order quantities and make recommendations on how to mitigate issues with aging product. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload while balancing internal and external stakeholder\'s priorities is essential. Critical thinking ability is required to problem solve issues for a variety of stakeholders while working in a fast-paced team environment in a developing line of business.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of three years related experience in category and product administration is required; a business diploma in a related field would be preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and a high proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint) is required.
  • Experience working in the Canadian Cannabis business industry with an understanding of the role that AGLC plays as a regulator and wholesaler would be considered an assert.
