This dual-season casual role rotates between indoor arena duties during the fall/winter months (September to April/May) and parks maintenance responsibilities during spring/summer (April/May to August). Working under the direction of the Arena Lead Hand and Parks Lead Hand, the successful candidates will assist in maintaining high-quality community spaces and delivering exceptional public service to residents and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in facility maintenance and providing exceptional customer service--especially during busy tournament weekends. Outdoor work experience and a strong customer service mindset are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Winter Seasonal (Arena)
Provide courteous daily customer service to arena patrons.
Perform cleaning of arena facilities, including waste and recycling removal.
Complete snow removal duties and maintain adjacent outdoor spaces.
Operate and maintain small equipment and tools safely.
Conduct regular inspections and assist with minor repairs or maintenance.
Support seasonal arena start-up and shut-down procedures.
Spring/Summer Seasonal (Parks)
Maintain the condition of parks, trails, playgrounds, and green spaces.
Perform horticulture and landscaping tasks (mowing, weeding, planting, etc.).
Conduct general upkeep of municipal facilities (pool, office, arena).
Assist with logistics and support during community events.
Ensure cleanliness and safety of outdoor recreational areas.
General Responsibilities
Safely operate light to medium-duty equipment and a variety of hand tools.
Participate actively in the Town's Health & Safety Program.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Arena Lead Hand or Parks Lead Hand.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred (e.g., facility maintenance, or arena/parks operations).
Valid
Class 5 driver's license
with a clean Driver's Abstract.
Clear
Criminal Record Check
required prior to employment.
First Aid and CPR certifications are considered assets.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around common allergens (e.g., grass, dust, pollen, wasps).
Flexible availability to work on an as-needed basis, including 8-10-hour shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Wage:
$15.15 - $24.10 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
