Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a few Personal Support Workers to provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to our male employer with Quadriplegia.

The employer is 40 years old. He loves documentaries, gardens, local parks, and dogs. He has a medium-sized dog that he enjoys spending time with at the park on his own time.

He is ideally looking for someone who enjoys cycling, as he is close to a major bike route near VanDusen Gardens. He looks forward to getting into his reverse trike come springtime.

Location:

Vancouver (Near VanDusen Botanical Garden)

Shifts & Hours of Work:

Morning shifts : 9am to 1pm Evening shifts : 6pm to 9pm shifts to be determined with employer

Compensation:

$18 for three training shifts; $25 to $30 per hour after training, based on experience

Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):

Daily personal care, such as showering, catheter care, assisting with bowel routine, and helping the client with going to bed Light housekeeping duties Meal preparation and feeding Supporting client with a dog Driving the client's wheelchair accessible van to do errands in the community

Required Qualifications:

Fully vaccinated Must have a flexible schedule to work longer shifts Must be comfortable supporting the client with taking care of 2 small dogs Experience with bowel care, including digital stimulation and disimpaction is an asset Experience with using a ceiling lift is an asset Driver's license is required, and must be comfortable driving the client's wheelchair accessible van around the community to do errands Previous caregiving experience is an asset, but not required
