Your opportunity:

The Experiential Learning Commons (ELC) is a space designed to act as a gateway to the University of Toronto, and a hub to support undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and employers in building networks and meaningful connections, gaining access to work and professional development, and engaging in activity, dialogue, research, and best practice in experiential learning.

The ELC is occupied by three distinct but collaborating units: Division of the Vice-President & Provost, Student Life, Career Exploration & Education; Faculty of Arts & Science, Office of Experiential Learning & Outreach Support (ELOS); and the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, Engineering Career Centre (ECC).

The ELC units aspire to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students, increase meaningful connections between students and industry professionals, create more effective pathways for employer partners to engage with students, staff and faculty at the University, and provide an opportunity for career and experiential learning professionals across U of T to gather, collaborate, and learn.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Employer Recruitment& Engagement, and co-supervised by the Lead Coordinator, Employer Recruitment & Engagement, the Career & Employer Services Coordinator will work closely with other members of Career Exploration & Education, and the Experiential Learning Commons to provide front-line service to students and employers at the ELC space. The Career & Employer Services Coordinator will book appointments, coordinate rooms, facilitate tri-campus referrals and employer wayfinding across the University of Toronto, answer inquiries by email, phone, and in person to ensure a welcoming and supportive service for students, recent graduates, alumni, employers, and the community.

The Career & Employer Services Coordinator will serve in animating and supporting the operations and functionality of the Experiential Learning Commons. As the Career Exploration & Education representative, you will work closely with two receptionist colleagues at the front desk representing the Faculty of Arts & Science, Office of Experiential Learning & Outreach Support (ELOS), and the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, Engineering Career Centre (ECC) to provide coverage and support when needed, ensure a welcoming space that engages students in exploring their career, employment, and experiential learning opportunities; and provide employers and community partners with a warm welcome to the University of Toronto. Additionally, as a member of the Employer Recruitment & Engagement portfolio serving tri-campus employer and career initiatives, the Career & Employer Services Coordinator will be responsible for projects and priorities associated with employer education and wayfinding, data collection and reporting, fielding employer requests, and other special projects and tasks which serve CareerExploration & Education and the employer engagement ecosystem at U of T.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Probing for information from students to help establish needs and clarify which services are most suitable for their needs. Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Maintaininginformation on digital platforms
  • Collating and organizing data for various reports
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years\' experience working in an administrative and operational capacity, preferably within a post-secondary educational environment and experience in the field of career development.
  • Demonstrated experience offering effective referrals and information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and empathically with a diverse university student and alumni population.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective, cooperative relationships with colleagues on and off site.
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and independently prioritize own work flow.
  • Strong relationship cultivation, building and management skills.
  • Demonstratedadministrative/organizational experience.
  • Experience working well under pressure despite frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated good judgment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, web browsers, on-line job postings systems, email and office equipment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and attention to detail skills.
  • Experience managing a front desk and receptionist operations.
