The Capital Markets Project Manager will primarily be responsible for leading the Benchmark Rates Transition and New Rates Onboarding work at CPP Investments as part of Public Markets Middle Office. The role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing regulatory initiatives for Public Markets. The role will be expected to develop into a process expert by coordinating efforts to work with the trading desks and downstream stakeholders to ensure successful transition to new reference rates.

In addition to the Rates Transition workstream, the incumbent will also have an opportunity to work on New Products Implementations as part of the New Products and Activities team within Public Markets Middle Office.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:
  • Lead working with various business lines to deliver new Risk-Free Rate (RFR) product support, capabilities, and ensure that any business process changes are considered and built into project delivery plans.
  • Ensure that all tasks from the project plan are tracked in JIRA and clearly, consistently communicated across all teams.
  • Facilitate resolution/escalation of any issues, manage interdependencies and ensure that all key risks, issues and pending decisions are brought forth promptly.
  • Drive business analysis and initial assessment of systems and business process impacts for any new reference rate onboarding and/or transition requests.
  • Adhere to governance for project implementation; document detailed requirements and obtain senior management signoff across stakeholder groups.
  • Liaise with Public Markets Investments, Total Portfolio Management, Operations, Finance, Risk and counterparties and vendors to implement objectives of the target operating model.
  • Provide leadership and direction to junior team members
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Finance or a related field. CPA, CFA and six sigma certifications are considered assets.
  • Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience with regulatory and reference rate transitioning projects (e.g.: LIBOR to SOFR) is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in capital markets operations, risk, due diligence, business analysis, or finance environment is necessary
  • Working knowledge of public markets investment products (esp. loans, derivatives) trade lifecycle and operational risk controls
  • Exposure to atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence would be an asset.
  • Diligent and detail oriented, logical, analytical thinker and practical problem solver.
  • Strategic thinking and proactive in seeking out and implementing well designed and controlled operational processes
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a manner that can be more easily understood by a wide audience
  • Demonstrated experience building and retaining solid working relationships internally and externally, including senior-level personnel
  • Able to exercise sound professional judgment
