JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Capital Asset and Inventory Accountant is responsible for providing value-added support to financial decision-making by preparing, analyzing & investigating and reporting capital asset and cannabis inventory financial information as well as ensuring proper recognition, recording and reporting of capital assets and cannabis inventory.

This position is responsible for understanding International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and AGLC controls and policies as well as researching and identifying issues to ensure AGLC remains compliant with IFRS and approved policies. This includes applying financial principles and best practices by developing recommendations and providing solutions to business and financial matters based on data evaluation and interpretation.

The incumbent is also accountable for monitoring and reconciling corporate project expenditures to approved budgets for business cases and verifying expenditures to approved expenditures for divisional initiatives.

This position also prepares ad-hoc and customized analytical reports, as well as, provide guidance to the business regarding accounting treatment of capital asset and cannabis inventory management, based on the applicable policies, procedures, and compliance with internal controls.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum of a university degree in the related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalency of related diploma and 3 years of directly related experience
  • The following will be considered assets:
  • Experience with IFRS and financial controls
  • Strong understanding of cannabis inventory and capital asset management
  • Strong financial, mathematical and analytical skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced computer skills (Excel, report query, etc.)
  • Taking initiative and judgment to recognize, verify and resolve emerging issues
