Job Description

Reporting to the CPIC Shift Leader, the CPIC Operator's primary function is to receive, enter, modify and transmit confidential information pertaining to property, persons and court orders into the Canadian Police information Centre (CPIC) and other police computerized information systems.

As a CPIC Operator

you will:

Receive confidential court documents, ascertain the nature and in priority sequence enter the information into CPIC system as governed by procedures, policy, RCMP CPIC guidelines, Provincial and Federal Legislation and Privacy legislation. Maintain the integrity of data within CPIC and other operationally critical databases in accordance to legislated guidelines. Provide real time CPIC support to frontline officers, investigators, courts and all other CPIC system users. Support the effective operations of the CPIC Unit and other units with a focus on teamwork

Your education and qualifications include:

Grade 12 Diploma, GED Certificate, or equivalent Minimum of six (6) months experience working in a police or comparable environment dealing with highly confidential electronic records or information General knowledge of federal, provincial, municipal legislation, acts and statutes including Criminal Code of Canada, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Family Law Act, Mental Health Act, Highway Traffic Act and City By-Laws, Liquor License Act, Trespass to Property Act, etc. General knowledge of the judicial structure, processes, documentation and programs. Knowledge of CPIC policy and maintenance regulations. Knowledge and understanding of the police records and reporting systems. General knowledge of other police applications and tools used as secondary resources in the ongoing maintenance of the CPIC System information. (Niche RMS, CCAIN, COMS & DVL) Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, and Excel. Demonstrated ability to type accurately, minimum 40 words per minute. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving abilities A high level of concentration, accuracy and attention to detail is required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal courteously and tactfully with internal and external stakeholders Excellent communication skills, oral and written with the ability to speak clearly and distinctly to voice pertinent information over the police radio system. Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. The ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, safe and healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological and social working relationships with members at all levels in a team environment

Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident Minimum 18 years of age No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs) No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted

Conditions of employment:

Ability to pass a level 3 Winnipeg Police Service security check and maintain clearance Must be able to work 10-hour shifts including days, evenings and nights and including weekends and holidays as required Must successfully complete additional training as defined by the Service, including the RCMP CPIC Course
