Job Description

Position Summary... The Space Excellence Senior Planner is responsible for the analysis, optimized build, reporting and assignment of cluster-specific strategies that drive sales through impactful, timely, and executable category floor plans and planograms. The Space Excellence Sr. Space Planner leads Category Managers, Directors, Category Advisors and other cross-functional partners through MRS, Format Development, or Project related category floor plan refreshes and planogram builds and assignments, ensuring timelines and standards are adhered to while continuing to evolve ways of working through optimized processes and documentation. In addition, the Sr. Planner is accountable for complex assignments and projects that further drive and enhance the Space Excellence mandate. This includes but is not limited to: complex floor plan and mod builds requiring cross-functional inputs, influencing and collaboration; and development and testing of new functionality and processes, advanced analytics and innovative approaches that can be scaled to the rest of the team. The Sr. Planner also provides expert knowledge on Space Excellence tools, methods, and approaches to fellow planners and business partners.

What you'll do...

  • Responsible and accountable for supporting MRS, Format Development or Project related planograms and category floor plan refreshes (when required). Builds a strong collaborative relationship with Merchandise Sr Directors & Category Managers to identify space optimization opportunities that ensure stores receive the best possible assortment and space configuration to allow profitable sales and efficient store operations through space excellence standards and targets. Supports project meetings to share process timelines and space excellence metrics, category nuances and opportunities, and risks/obstacles in creation/modification of planograms and category floor plans.
  • Responsible and accountable for the maintenance of an accurate planogram and category floor plan for their respective area, including item dimensions and images, fixture dimensions and type, item location and capacities, planogram and category space and location, and mod-floorplan-store assignments.
  • Provides category space and planogram insights, standards, measures, and expectations during the end-to-end process to ensure successful planogram and category floor plan execution (when required). Completes timely corrections of all floor plan and planogram drawings stemming from centralized quality control reviews, to ensure they comply with Merchandising planogram and category floor plan standards.
  • Communicates and produces outputs that reflect strong business acumen and capacity to manage multiple priorities. Draws insights from data and translates into action, with an ability to negotiate and influence decisions. Maintains working knowledge of market, category, brand, and consumer trends in order to provide insights during planogram and floor plan build process.
  • Collaborates with stores to resolve inquiries in timely and professional manner, including corrections to floor plans and planograms when required.
  • Leads complex assignments and projects that further drive and enhance the Space Excellence mandate. Develops, tests, trains, and rolls out advanced analytics, tools, methods, and approaches. Key work package lead and subject matter expert on requirements, development, testing, and rollout of space-related technology functionality, enhancements, and releases. Actively leads process improvement to identify and action enhancements to Space Excellence efficiency, quality, and cross-functional ways of working.
  • Develops reports and dashboard and provides analytical insights and recommendations to improve results. Responsibilities include gathering category, modular and item level data to help identify opportunities to improve category sales, utilizing data warehouse/reporting tool, Retail Link, and performance data for in-depth reporting and analysis.
  • Researches and maintains subject matter knowledge on Category and/or Modular Space best practices, innovation, technology, analytics, and insights. Shares subject matter knowledge with the Space Planners to enhance their knowledge and skills and contribute to their development. Provides expert knowledge on Space Excellence tools, methods, and approaches to fellow planners and business partners.
  • Lead, maintain and track progress of Planogram Generator Conversions and other aspects of Modular Automation
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and work cross functionally with business leads on BI solutions and Automation while solving ambiguous problems with limited supervision.
Qualifications:
  • College Certificate or Diploma
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a space planning role
  • JDA Floor Plan, Space Planning, Space Automation, and Planogram Generator experience and expertise
  • Advance knowledge of JDA space suite of tools and related CKB/IKB data repositories
  • Strong analytical & business acumen
  • Ability to effectively problem solve, collaborate, communicate, negotiate, and influence
  • Strong team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced query and visualization tools, such as Alteryx and Tableau
  • Strong knowledge of databases, proficient in SQL
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt accordingly
  • Innovative to offer fresh, feasible ideas to further the Space Excellence mandate
