We are currently looking for a Senior Planner, Marketing Communications to join our team in Mississauga, ON.

This role will be responsible for leading the Brochures & Point-of-Sale Material and Digital-first Video Production Programs for Nissan, while supporting national brand advertising campaigns and budget management.

Job functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, executing and evaluating national brand advertising campaigns. Supporting in the creation of campaign briefs, and leading asset production (with support from the Planner and Specialist on the team) across a number of channels (e.g. TV, Digital, Print, OOH, etc.). Liaising with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Market Intelligence, etc.), regional staff, and dealers for input/feedback as required. Scheduling reviews at various management levels in accordance with the established workback schedule.
  • Refining local creative guidelines as required by brand platform evolutions, and ensuring compliance of assets to global brand guidelines.
  • Coordinating vehicle and production logistics for large-scale campaigns. On set leadership (occasional domestic and international travel may be required). Establishing performance reporting cadence and structure. Working closely with French Agency and translations vendors on French deliverables as required.
  • Participating in weekly status meetings and quarterly campaign performance reviews with agency partners.
  • Submitting budget requests and reporting. Creating purchase order requisitions and prepare documentation for approvals accordingly. Participating in monthly budgeting meetings with agencies.
  • Continuous evaluation, optimization, and rollout of cross-team processes and workflows for greater efficiency and the elimination of redundancy.
  • Supporting other functions of the Brand Marketing team. Special project/task support, as requested by Manager. Assist in the development of presentation slides and dealer bulletins.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • This position requires a university degree in marketing/advertising or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' business experience including a widespread, integrated business understanding across retail, marketing, customer service, logistics, finance, IT, HR, training and research. Must have experience managing projects, budgets, agencies or suppliers of communications services.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and knowledge of the diverse Canadian market are required. Broad knowledge of marketing principles and activities as well as understanding current branding throughout Nissan is required.
  • A self-starter with a 'can-do' and 'make it happen' personality, and the ability to conceptualize and implement a variety of projects with concurrent deadlines, requiring a high level of organization and detail. Must be able to deal with multiple tasks/deadlines and able to change priorities when required.
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal); strong customer service ethic. Effective communication and exchange of information with managers, co-workers, dealers, agencies and vendors.
  • Effectively building teams and quickly establishing rapport in order to mobilize supporting functions and departments toward a common goal. Able to direct and manage various teams as required (including but not limited to: more junior team members, agencies and vendors, other Marketing functions, dealers and regional staff). Interactions can be of a sensitive nature requiring diplomacy, conflict resolution, persuasion and negotiation.
  • Sound executional and process decision-making related to core responsibilities to improve customer experience, performance and efficiency.
  • Problems may be non-routine, unique, diverse, broad, conceptual in nature and complex, requiring analysis, creativity and resourcefulness to resolve. The market and digital space are constantly changing.
  • Solid forecasting, planning and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous automotive experience is preferred.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
