Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel BC as the Campus Development Lead. You\'ll power Hillel by supporting efforts to connect people, vital funds, and resources to our mission.

The Campus Development Lead (CDL) is an integral part of the local campus team whose primary focuses are the advocacy initiatives, both Israel related and not, of Hillel BC and its student leaders; and the engagement of Jewish students on Hillel BC\'s Emerging Campuses. You are responsible for collaborating with senior management to develop and modify Hillel BC\'s advocacy strategy, recognizing that different campuses have different needs. You will play an essential role in managing, both proactively, and reactively, advocacy related issues on campus and for the organization. You will cultivate relationships with non-Jewish and Jewish student leaders on campus in pursuit of Hillel\'s advocacy objectives and in the spirit of cementing ourselves as players on our campuses.

You will be excited to engage students in Israel and Jewish conversations and will have a passion for utilizing Jewish identity and relationships to Israel as a framework for shaping meaning, value, and purpose in the lives of emerging adults.

What You\'ll Do

  • Create and execute a proactive advocacy strategy for the local Hillel, identifying specific goals and measurable objectives, in partnership with the Hillel leadership
  • Address the specific needs of Hillel BC\'s satellite campuses, including Hot Lunches, Shabbat dinners, and Holiday programming.
  • Cultivate one-on-one relationships with non-Jewish and Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work, and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them
  • Participate as a member of the Hillel BC staff team in weekly programs, Shabbat, and holiday activities
  • Stay up to date on campus politics including but not limited to people, laws, bylaws, and elections
  • Provide support to Jewish and non-Jewish students affiliated with Hillel in pursuit of their advocacy interests, including working with them on their political advocacy interests, such as student political campaigns and referendums
  • Cultivate student leadership and mobilize students towards advocacy objectives on and off campus
  • Take initiative and seek opportunities to advance Hillel\'s advocacy strategy on campus
  • Be able to regularly report on anti-Israel and antisemitic activities on campus as requested
  • Work with CJPAC Fellows, Emerson Fellows, and other Fellows on campus as needed
  • Engage Jewish and non-Jewish students interested in advocacy and build strategic relationships with various stakeholders and clubs on campus
What You\'ve Accomplished
  • 0-3 years post university experience
  • Experience with Jewish and Israel education and outreach
  • Prior travel experience in Israel, and a familiarity with Israel and Judaism
  • Knowledge of Israeli society and culture

  • A proven track record of successful advocacy (or advocacy adjacent) work on campus
  • Willingness to travel throughout the province of British Columbia when required
  • A driver\'s license is highly recommended and preferred for this position
What You\'ll Receive
  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $43,000 - $48,000
