YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.



The Camp Program Coordinator is responsible for consistently facilitating the delivery of safe, engaging, challenging, and inclusive programming at Pine Crest. This role focuses on developing and improving programs, mentoring and supporting staff through ongoing training, and ensuring a thorough understanding of high-quality programming and resource development. Coordinators provide leadership to program team members, offer timely and constructive feedback, and adapt flexibly to the dynamic needs of camp operations.



The position ensures that YMCA Camping Quality Recommended Practices and Ontario Camping Standards are met across all program areas. It oversees program planning and delivery, including special events, skill development areas, and resource management, while monitoring skill progression, maintaining program equipment, and managing budgets to support operational success throughout the summer.


In this role, you will:




Provide fun, engaging, and safe programs for participants and campers of all ages, including activities such as ropes courses, archery, orienteering, fire building, canoeing/kayaking, and more Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to the program staff team, including writing and delivering seasonal performance appraisals, and be present within the program to ensure consistency with YMCA standards Assist with research and development of new summer camp programs, supporting the inventory, organization, and maintenance of all program equipment Ensure that all program-related expenses align with budget requirements and complete administrative tasks related to purchasing accurately and on time Collaborate with the year-round team and other seasonal supervisors to plan and deliver staff training, preparing all staff for their roles Foster strong relationships with participants, members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, representing the YMCA, Association, and Camp Pine Crest Monitor the safety of all activities and programs throughout the duty period, respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns, and complete YMCA Accident/Incident forms within 24 hours Ensure Health & Safety procedures are upheld, collaborating with the staff team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp environment for all participants, and provide support in kitchen and maintenance roles as needed Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:




Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C required for the duration of the contract National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification Challenge Course/High Ropes training and experience - ACCT Level 2 is an asset Minimum 2 years prior experience working in an outdoor centre or summer camp in a supervisory role Demonstrated experience and passion for camping and outdoor education Demonstrated ability to lead and empower an inclusive staff team and cultivate a warm, inclusive, and safe environment for guests and colleagues Ability to engage with groups and people of all ages Ability to lead other staff and offer them feedback on an ongoing basis Ability to communicate ideas, rules, and concepts effectively and in an engaging, entertaining, and supportive manner Excellent communication skills Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays is required Valid G Class Drivers License preferred (F Class an asset, or willingness to obtain) Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging
