CAMP MANAGER Yellowknife Accommodations At Nahanni we are cold weather and remote location construction experts. ABOUT THE POSITION Nahanni Construction Ltd. is hiring a Camp Manager to work on a rotational schedule in a live-in camp environment. The Camp Manager would work on a rotational schedule on a two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off rotation. The position would be for the duration of the project. Compensation dependant on experience; position includes comprehensive benefits package. SCOPE
  • Oversee all custodial, maintenance and catering operations at the camp, as needed;
  • Communicate with Head Office regarding camp numbers, quantities & ordering;
  • Coordinate with Head Office, camp residents, maintenance personnel and catering staff to ensure smooth operation of camp;
  • Work with kitchen staff to maintain adequate supply levels and place orders as needed;
  • Work with health and safety to develop and implement a safety protocol for camp residences and encourage safe work behavior in all employees;
  • Complete and file and/or submit all required documentation, tracking, and quality control measures;
  • Track and manage project budget within set limits;
  • Address camp facilities-related concerns promptly and effectively;
  • Schedule and oversee all camp management staff on site, including new employee orientation and training
  • Ensure food safety standards are met and maintained at all times;
  • Ensure that entire camp is maintained in a clean and orderly condition, and all camp equipment is functioning properly;
  • Enforce company policies and rules as required;
  • Complete and review thorough crossover notes for cross-shift;
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
  • Experience working in a camp environment.
  • Minimum 2 years successful experience in managing a busy kitchen, camp, and/or hotel, including budget tracking and management, staff scheduling and training, menu planning, ordering and inventory, quality control, and administrative duties
  • FoodSafe Level 1 (required), FoodSafe Level 2 (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, Outlook and OneDrive an asset
  • Experience with inventory and ordering procedures, and staying within a set budget
  • Background and training in safety systems
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Forward thinking
  • Comfortable working in a sub-Arctic camp environment; will be required to walk outdoors around the camp
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Manual lifting of up to 25 lbs required
