Summer Student Position





The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban/rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting for Day Camp Counsellors for its 2026 Summer Day Camp Program.



Reporting to a Day Camp Supervisor, Day Camp Counsellors are responsible for the supervision of campers through planning & implementing camp activities. Day Camp Counsellors engage and interact with camp participants to create a safe, fun and enjoyable environment.

Position Responsibilities



The usual responsibilities of the position are:


Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of registered camp participants. Instructing and leading day-to-day camp activities including but not limited to games, songs, crafts, and special events Assist with preparation & delivery of daily camp program plans. Follow and enforce all camp safety rules and requirements. Complete all camp paperwork as required. Work in all weather conditions both indoors and outdoors Ensure compliance with Township policies and procedures Respond to first aid situations of camp participants Answer questions and inquiries and provide excellent customer service to participants and caregivers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience




Previous experience working with children. Strong communication, mentoring and leadership skills.

This is a summer specific position and staff must be available to work exclusively in July and August for the entire duration of the program and be available for required training in May and June to be considered for a position.

All staff must hold a valid Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED certification (or if hired, must obtain by June 19, 2026). Certification in HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development from HIGH FIVE National (or if hired, must obtain by June 19, 2026). Applicants must be a minimum of 15 years of age by 1st day of camp (June 29, 2026) Applicants must be a registered full-time student during the preceding academic year and provide proof of enrollment of returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in a College or University program in a child-care related field (i.e. Child Studies, Education, Recreation, or Early Childhood Education, CYW etc.). As a condition of employment, all applicants must be willing to submit a Criminal Records Search - Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable and in good standing to the Township of Springwater. Access to a reliable form of transportation and/or valid Ontario G2 Driver's Licence in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle is required.

Rate of Pay





The rate of pay is $18.85 per hour plus vacation pay and Statutory Holidays as per the Employment Standards Act.

Hours of Work





This position will work up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday with a varying schedule to support operational needs and program demand. This position is a mixture of indoors and outdoors with work locations including Elmvale, Midhurst, Minesing, Anten Mills and other off-site destinations; reliable transportation will be required.
