Job Description

Camp Cosmos (CC) has been a Montreal landmark since 1972. Today CC is an environmental day camp that welcomes local and newcomer children, as well as those with special needs, for six weeks of summer fun and education. The camp also organizes extra curricular activities throughout the year for the summer campers as well as children of newcomer families in our larger community network. We are currently seeking a director for a 1 year renewable contract to prepare the 2024 summer seasons and coordinate year-round activities.. Candidates must be meet the criteria of the \xe2\x80\x98Subvention salariale\xe2\x80\x99 category at Emploi Quebec. Responsibilities: Fundraising and Financial Management

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for year-round programs as well as the summer camping seasons;
• Collaborate with the Camp Cosmos board and other relevant staff to create budgets and financial plans;
• Manage fundraising campaigns, grant applications, and donor relationships;
• Keep accurate financial records and ensure expenditures align with budgets.

Preparation and Roll out of the 2024 camping season

• Prepare a 2024 budget;
• Apply for government and foundation grants;
• Organize summer programming;
• Organize hiring and management of summer staff.

Event Organization:

• Plan, organize, and execute various events throughout the year, including fundraisers, community engagement activities, and seasonal celebrations;
• Collaborate with the Camp Cosmos team to ensure events align with the organization\'s mission and goals.

Community Outreach and Public Relations:

• Promote Camp Cosmos and its year-round programs within the community through outreach efforts and partnerships with local organizations;
• Maintain and update the organization\'s website and social media platforms with information about upcoming events and activities;
• Respond to inquiries and requests from parents, participants, and community members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience;
• Bilingual with a third language an asset;
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;.
• Experience in fundraising, event planning, or community outreach;
• Familiarity with the mission and values of Camp Cosmos;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication tools.

Working Conditions:

• This position is a year-round role with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required for events and programs;
• The Camp Coordinator will work closely with the Camp Cosmos board as well as other staff members to ensure the successful implementation of the summer camping season and year-round initiatives;
• Salary: comparable with similar positions in the community milieu and dependent on qualifications.
