We are seeking energetic students to volunteer as Camp Assistants. Earn volunteer hours while gaining hands-on experience working with children and developing skills in media production or youth programming.
Schedule:
4-9 hours per shift, between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Camp Dates:
PD Days, March Break, Summer Break, and occasional Saturdays
Position 1: Camp Assistant - Media
Role Overview
Capture the energy and creativity of camp through photography and videography.
Key Responsibilities
Take high-quality photos and videos of campers during activities, kitchen work, and outdoor play
Work with the Culinary Dietitian to identify key moments to capture
Edit and prepare content for social media and parent updates
Ideal Candidate
Experience in photography and/or videography
Strong interest in visual storytelling and content creation
Basic photo and video editing skills
Position 2: Camp Assistant - General
Role Overview
Work directly with campers to facilitate activities and create a positive, safe, fun learning environment. Support the Culinary Dietitian and Camp Counsellors across all camp programming.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with cooking activities, recipe demonstrations, and kitchen setup/cleanup
Lead and participate in outdoor games and activities in all weather conditions
Set up craft stations and help campers with creative projects
Facilitate team-building games and encourage positive participation
Assist with daily setup and cleanup of activity spaces
Monitor campers' safe use of equipment and adherence to camp rules
Model safe, positive behavior and provide warm interactions with campers and families
Ideal Candidate
Interest in working with children and comfortable in a kitchen setting
Energetic and willing to actively participate in all activities
Patient, encouraging, and able to connect with diverse children
Comfortable outdoors in various weather conditions
Team player who takes direction and shows initiative
General Qualifications
Minimum 16 years of age
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English
Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a team
Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
Able to lift up to 30 lbs and move around actively throughout the day
Reliable transportation to South Edmonton location
First Aid & CPR, Food Handler Certification (preferred)
If 18 or older:
Must not have a criminal record of any offences without a Record Suspension. Must obtain a Police Record Check - Vulnerable Sectors from Edmonton Police Services.
