YOUR ROLE



Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Cad Services, the CAD Technician's main responsibility is to work closely with the Project Managers, Retail Store Planners & Procurement teams to produce CAD drawings, from preliminary layouts to full construction sets for all store types (new, renovation and retrofit), for ALDO, CALL IT SPRING & SPERRY brands, for ALDO Group North America (ANA) and ALDO Group International (AGI) markets.


The CAD Technician is also responsible to provide high technical expertise to support the Store Design, roll out and Procurement teams with the development of custom & elevated store concepts, from architecture to furniture & fixtures, for all brands of the ALDO Group.


• Work in close collaboration with the Project Managers, Store Planners and Designers to produce technical drawings, full construction drawings set, and documentation aligned with the store concept, site conditions and building code requirements (when applicable), for AGNA & AGI markets;
• Provide technical expertise & support to the Retail Design Planners in the development of new concepts from architecture to furniture & fixtures, that demonstrate design sensibility and a strong understanding of the concepts;
• Work in close collaboration with the Design & Procurement team to optimize production & minimize costs while remaining aligned with the design intent;
• Work in close collaboration with the Procurement team during prototyping and production phases of new furniture & fixture development;
• Lead the technical development phases of projects, coordinate the communication with team and approvals;
• Build & maintain high level of technical expertise and quality standards to ensure great execution in construction/fabrication;
• Support the Retail Design Planners and act as one at peak periods by proposing design solutions;
• Support the Procurement team in value engineering & RFP exercises;
• Participate in sourcing & maintaining a network of vendors & manufacturers to ensure high quality results & efficient project delivery;
• Based on the parameters given by the Project Managers & Store Planner, complete the preparation of preliminary store layouts, specifications and construction drawing sets, for all brands (ALDO, ALDO Acc, ALDO OUTLET, CALL IT SPRING and SPERRY) and all specifications of brick & mortar projects;

• Collaborate with internal & external teams during all phases of any given project;
• Revise the plans according to budget constraints, landlords and franchisee comments and construction site conditions;
• Produce plans for all type of design, roll-out & office projects (new, renovation, minor and retrofits);
• Develop technical drawings based on design intent and suggest alternatives solutions;
• Review manufacturer's shop drawings, identify & communicate any discrepancies;
• Update the detail book for each renovation project;
• Filter and assess all initial project information and identify discrepancies;
• Support the development and installation of the new concept prototypes;
• Produce and maintain the Furniture Catalogue and Construction Details;
• Update and maintain roll-out tools (CAD software blocks, legends, etc.), drawing database and store profile spreadsheet;
• Produce photometric studies for specific projects;
• Produce the store 3D model shell;
• Provide design solutions in peak periods;
• Contribute to developing & maintaining high quality standards.


DO YOU HAVE THE PROFILE WE'RE LOOKING FOR?


• College degree in industrial design or related fields (Architecture, Environmental Design);
• 5 to 10 years of practical experience as a Technical Designer in Retail Design, Architecture or Shop Fit manufacturer;
• Knowledge in store construction, furniture & fixture fabrication;
• Knowledge in industrial (bulk) production, material properties & manufactures shop drawing;
• Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Cloud;
• Basic knowledge of photometry software (DIA LUX);
• Familiarity with management tools such as MS project;
• Bilingualism (English and French) for conversations with international partners;
• Experience in ''knock down'' (flat pack) furniture design, working with multiple (overseas) manufacturers, prototyping review and technical quality control;
• Knowledge in commercial retail architecture and design;
• Familiarity with all construction methodology;
• Brand awareness and understanding of the retail market;
• Capacity to play a multi-disciplinary role as CAD Technician & Designer to support peak periods;
• Demonstrated technical skills & design sensibility;
• Proactive, adaptable & agile;
• Team player, strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent organizational skills.
