Overview:
Maritime Enforcement Services Inc. is currently accepting applications from motivated individuals to fill the position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer. MES Inc. services multiple local governments across New Brunswick. The Hired Officers will be duly appointed in a dozen municipalities and required to travel in a marked enforcement vehicle in order to investigate complaints and files.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a By-Law Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for:
a) Enforcing municipal by-laws including, but not limited to by-laws dealing with dangerous or unsightly premises, public order & parking enforcement.
b) Enforcing provincial statutes including the Local Governance Act, the Community Planning Act, and the Building Codes Administration Act.
c) Patrolling an assigned area.
d) Investigating complaints from the public and municipal officials.
e) Compiling investigative reports and laying charges where appropriate.
f) Complete data entry as required.
g) Preparing court files and testifying in court as required.
h) Aiding the public in emergency situations.
i) Protecting the residents of the jurisdictions we are contracted to serve.
j) Attending training courses as required.
k) Maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and policing agencies.
l) Complete any other tasks that may be assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief.
Minimum requirements:
a) Be Fluently Bilingual (English & French).
b) Possess a Law Enforcement / Policing Diploma or Degree from a recognized Post Secondary institution.
c) Hold at minimum a NB Class 5 unrestricted Drivers License with 5 years driving experience.
d) Hold at minimum a Standard First Aid, CPR & AED certification.
e) Have at minimum 1 year experience in a Law Enforcement related field.
f) Submit a Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
h) Be permitted to work in Canada.

a) Strong public relation skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
b) Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
c) The ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion.
d) The ability to work with minimal supervision.
e) The ability to remain calm during emergency or hostile situations.
f) The ability to read, analyze and interpret By-Laws, Acts and Regulations.
g) The ability to deal with difficult members of the public.
