The De Beers Group of Companies has an opportunity for a motivated and energetic individual to join the Material Management department at the Yellowknife office located Northwest Territories or the Calgary Support Centre, supporting the Gahcho Kue Mine Site. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for following corporate purchasing/buyer practices and assisting the coordination of purchasing activities. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the timely processing of purchasing, from requisition through to invoicing;
  • Manage quotations, create outline agreements and issue purchase orders;
  • Consult, confer and meet with suppliers and customers to obtain product information;
  • Determine and verify the need of materials purchased;
  • Monitor and track overdue orders, supplier performance and buyer/purchasing savings;
  • Record all purchasing information and maintain purchasing files and reports;
  • Maintain effective business relationships and communication with suppliers and customers;
  • Identify potential sources and developing preferred supplier\'s profile;
  • Engage in supply chain continuous improvement; and
  • Identify repeat purchases for contract inclusion
This is a full-time position reporting to either the Yellowknife Office or the Calgary Support Centre, which is located at Calgary International Airport - working 5 days on/2 days off.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in one or more of the following disciplines: Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, and/or Engineering;
  • Experience in purchasing and inventory management (5+ years);
  • Business acumen in supply chain, logistics and/or global sourcing areas;
  • Essential to have strong knowledge of SAP and MS Office Suite;
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and to manage multiple priorities.
Beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in the Mining, Natural Resources or Oil/Gas industry;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards;
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment; and
  • Experience with Northern businesses supplying the mining community.
