Dimensions

The Buyer position reports to the Procurement and Logistics Coordinator.

Purpose

  • Support goal to meet and exceed Corporate metrics related to savings and procure-to-pay metrics
  • Administers purchasing activities for Newmont mine site to facilitate supporting Operations needs for goods and services; coordinate with offshore team.
  • Facilitate sourcing strategy and activities in Newmont\'s for lower dollar/risk services and goods (ex. Office Services, Lab Supplies/Equipment) in order to maximize the value derived from indirect spend and meet end user\'s needs.
  • Timely procurement of goods and services utilizing standardized procurement processes and policies.
  • Utilize SAP/Ariba to facilitate streamlined procurement of goods and services.
Essential Duties
  • Support goal to meet and exceed Corporate metrics related to savings and procure-to-pay metrics
  • Administers purchasing activities for Newmont mine site to facilitate supporting Operations needs for goods and services; coordinate with offshore team.
  • Facilitate sourcing strategy and activities in Newmont\'s for lower dollar/risk services and goods (ex. Office Services, Lab Supplies/Equipment) in order to maximize the value derived from indirect spend and meet end user\'s needs.
  • Timely procurement of goods and services utilizing standardized procurement processes and policies.
  • Utilize SAP/Ariba to facilitate streamlined procurement of goods and services.
  • Utilize catalog system or facilitate non-catalog procurement of supplies, equipment, services
  • Collaborate with suppliers, end users and AP to perform support on mismatch resolution of services and goods invoices, thereby driving to metrics compliance.
  • Inventory management to ensure compliance to governmental regulations (including hazardous material)
  • Assist in managing the repairable PR\'s to PO process as required.
  • Gain an understanding of the site logistic requirements and assist as needed.
  • Working with Contracts Administrators, help drive more spend to OA, meet procure-to-pay metrics, and PR to PO cycle time-conduct analytics on KPI\'s.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to define requirements in order to meet the needs of the company in terms of total cost, quality, service and delivery. Assist end users in planning for upcoming purchases.
  • Facilitate three bids and a buy process to ensure user is getting the best value based on business needs.
  • Ensure contracts contain appropriate Service Level Agreements to facilitate effective supplier management.
  • Ensures governance and standardization of procurement with preferred suppliers.
  • Works directly with Newmont Legal in terms of PO/SO terms and use of the appropriate Newmont (contracting) legal entity. Ensure practices are compliant with Internal Audit control requirements.
  • Document, communicate and promote use of processes and tools; continually refine processes and tools and encourage adoption of best practices.
  • Support and proactively drive the company\'s safety culture by ensuring all suppliers at least comply to the appropriate standards and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.
Training & Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or Management is preferred but not required
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience in Buyer role, sourcing and contracts administration.
  • Understanding of regulations governing shipping/ordering of hazardous materials.
  • Experience in mining or other relevant industries a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to influence others.
Working Conditions
  • The position is located in a town accessible to the mine site and requires site presence of at least 5 days per month or 2 days/week; other portion can be worked remotely.
  • Lots of virtual meetings with site end users, Procurement and Logistics Coordinator, and offshore Procurement team.
  • It\'s a 4x3 schedule.
