BCIT\xe2\x80\x99s ITS department is currently seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Business Systems Analyst. The Digital Transformation team within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department helps the Institute proactively identify and respond to changes in technology, industry, and customer expectations. This includes partnering with our clients to understand and address their challenges and opportunities; designing optimal system and process experiences for, and with, our stakeholders; and providing the support required for our Institute to adapt to change. Our ultimate goal is to improve the teaching and learning outcomes for our 50,000+ students, as well as the experiences of our faculty and staff.
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support our ERP eco-system. As a key liaison between ITS and key business areas of the Institute, the BSA will become an expert on BCIT\xe2\x80\x99s Financial Services Information System (FSIS), Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Student Information System (SIS) and their integrated systems. The BSA will have a deep understanding of system(s) features and functionality, the business processes supported by the system, and product roadmaps. They will expertly translate the needs of the business into functional and technical specifications, coordinate solutioning with technical stakeholders including developers
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops a deep understanding of BCIT\xe2\x80\x99s ERP\xe2\x80\x99s (Ellucian Banner) capabilities and associated product roadmaps, as well as the business processes and challenges of stakeholders who rely on our ERP
Provides functional analysis and support for the ERP eco-system
Liaises with decision makers, system owners, business leads and end users (e.g. Finance, Human Resources, Registrar\xe2\x80\x99s Office, Student Services and their key client stakeholders) to identify, design and deliver technical solutions in support of their business processes and objectives
Advises clients on options, risks and any impacts on process and/or system changes. Supports stakeholders in fully integrating new ERP features, functions and applications into their current business environments and provides input on best practices
Develops technical and functional specifications based on high-level business requirements
Creates/updates business process maps, procedures, and knowledge base documentation as required to ensure system documentation is current
Identifies, investigates, configures, tests and facilitates the implementation of functionality that addresses client needs and issues, and drives the assigned portfolio of systems forward
Creates and maintains product roadmaps for various systems. Researches and maintains knowledge of industry trends with regards to higher ed ERPs
Conducts impact assessment of data and system integrations
Coordinates system upgrades with both business and technical teams
Works closely with ITS program and project managers to support strategic projects
Triages technical and support issues
Supports communication, user documentation and training activities for system changes
Creates and executes appropriate test cases. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the solution prior to business unit and user acceptance testing. Reports progress to clients, project managers, system owners, service owners, operations managers, etc. as appropriate.
Produces system reports or ad hoc SQL to substantiate system usage, statistics and data quality
Leads or facilitates data mapping activities
Develops working knowledge of overlapping functional areas and identifies interdependencies between systems and business processes. Provides support to \xe2\x80\x93 and works collaboratively with \xe2\x80\x93 other business systems and functional analysts.
Ability to work outside of core business hours periodically
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Institute of Technology Diploma, or Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Science or Business; and a minimum of six years of current, relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT, including four of the last six years in a similar position; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must have demonstrated advanced and current IT knowledge.

DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS:
Strong skills in systems analysis, business analysis, functional analysis, quality assurance and change approval processes
Demonstrated capability in impact analysis and problem solving
Experience with Ellucian Banner is a significant asset
Strong skills in SQL
Good understanding of ERDs and system architecture documentation is an asset
Experience working in a post-secondary institution is a significant asset
Demonstrated experience with formal QA processes is highly desired
Development experience is an asset (PLSQL, Java, etc.)
Good understanding of ITIL/ITSM best practices

Salary Range Salary Range: $69,865 - $92,712 per annum.
Additional Salary Information Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
