Business Partner, Greenhouse Gas Mitigation (24 Month Term)
Competition number: 2602 Alberta Innovates (AI) is seeking a Business Partner, Greenhouse Gas Mitigation to support program and project management activities within the Clean Resources business unit and with Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA). The successful candidate will support programs and projects directly involved with the demonstration and deployment of innovative technology that will assist the province of Alberta in achieving its climate change goals, including Net-Zero Emissions by 2050. Supports the delivery of AI and ERA-led funding programs, focusing primarily on technologies enabling Alberta in achieving its climate change goals
Supports interaction with external stakeholders including technology scouting, outreach, engagement, coaching, feedback, and debrief processes
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, Trusted Partner organizations, government department working groups, industrial associations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective low carbon technology initiatives
Provides technical input to develop a high-impact portfolio of projects, ensuring that AI and ERA programs are well-aligned with the strategic plans of the Government of Alberta (GoA)
Coordinates and participates in proposal evaluation activities including scheduling and conducting proposal reviews, proposal analysis, review compilation and scoring, review team coordination and contracting, and development of funding recommendation documents
Acts as the primary point of contact between both AI and ERA and various funding recipients
Works with funding recipients to develop project work plans, milestone schedules, and key performance metrics for projects that advance technology toward commercialization
Monitors achievements, performance, and outcomes throughout the course of projects
Reviews progress reports, financial reports, outcomes reports, and commercialization plans provided by funding recipients to ensure satisfactory alignment with AI and ERA goals and mandate
Maintains an ongoing relationship with funding recipients after projects have completed Qualifications:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Science or Engineering
An advanced degree is an asset
Project management certification is an asset
5 years of experience in technology research or innovation
Proven knowledge of scientific, engineering, business, and project management principles
Demonstrated knowledge of technology, theories, regulatory issues, and economics of Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s energy system and the clean technology industry
Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Understanding of the Government of Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s and Canada\xe2\x80\x99s energy and environment related strategies, strategic business plans, policy frameworks, and relevant legislation
Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail that reflects ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, competing agendas, and client demands
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, senior leaders, and external partners
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic and changing environment
Results oriented
Strong research, writing and editing skills
