Business Development Specialist
to join our team and help us secure new business through research and compelling proposals.
Position Summary
The Business Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in contributing to our proposal strategy and market research initiatives. Their contributions will be essential to securing new business and broadening our client base. At the heart of our growth strategy, the specialist will lead research efforts, develop technical proposals, and equip the team with the insights needed to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth market, client and competitor research to identify and evaluate new business opportunities
Analyze industry trends and data to support strategic planning and opportunity targeting
Write, edit, and format high-quality technical proposals, RFP responses, and capability statements
Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical content and ensure proposal accuracy
Manage proposal timelines, submission schedules, and compliance requirements
Maintain a library of proposal templates, case studies, and supporting materials
Track and report on proposal outcomes and business development metrics
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or a related field
2+ years of experience in proposal writing, business development, or research
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong analytical skills and a passion for data-informed strategy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
This position will require some travel, a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle is mandatory
Preferred:
Advanced credentials or professional certifications relevant to technical writing, and strategic communication
A strong understanding of the inner workings of government -- including procurement processes, regulatory frameworks, funding mechanisms and decision-making processes
Experience in working with municipal, provincial, or federal agencies is an asset
