Position Overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a critical role in supporting sales growth within Merrithew. This role is responsible for managing inbound leads, qualifying prospects, and determining sales readiness before passing warm opportunities to the Sales Manager team. In addition, the BDR supports order processing and performs key administrative and coordination tasks that contribute to achieving overall sales targets.
The focus of the BDR position is in creating new pipeline, especially outbound, and in channel segments where Merrithew is targeting to grow - Fitness Clubs, Yoga Studios, Hospitality, etc. Focusing on new expansion opportunities and developing early relationships in emerging countries is a key part of this role.
This position is ideal for a highly organized, customer-focused professional who understands the Pilates, wellness, or fitness space and enjoys being a connector between marketing, sales, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Lead Management & Qualification
Act as the first point of contact for inbound leads from marketing campaigns, website inquiries, events, and referrals
Engage prospects via phone, email, and CRM tools to understand business needs, budget, timeline, and decision-making process
Assess lead quality and determine sales readiness (warm vs. nurture)
Clearly document prospect information, insights, and next steps in the CRM
Route qualified, sales-ready leads to the Sales Manager team with thorough handoff notes
Sales Support & Pipeline Assistance
Support Sales Managers by preparing quotes, product information, and follow-up materials
Assist in managing the sales pipeline to ensure no qualified opportunities stall
Follow up on inactive or nurturing leads to re-engage and move them forward
Coordinate with marketing on lead feedback, trends, and conversion insights
Order Processing & Sales Operations
Process sales orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct product selection, pricing, and customer details
Coordinate with internal teams (operations, logistics, finance, customer service) to support smooth order fulfillment
Track order status and communicate updates to internal teams and customers as needed
Assist with sales documentation, contracts, and internal reporting
Provide quotes for both Merrithew and Align products
Customer Experience & Brand Representation
Deliver a professional, consultative, and brand-aligned experience reflective of a premium Pilates and wellness brand
Build trust with studio owners, instructors, and fitness professionals through knowledgeable and responsive communication
Ensure consistent follow-up and attention to detail throughout the customer journey
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Meet or exceed individual and team targets related to lead response time, qualification rates, and sales support KPIs
Identify process improvements to enhance lead flow, CRM usage, and sales efficiency
Stay informed on Pilates industry trends, customer needs, and product offerings
Qualifications
Required
2+ years of experience in business development, sales support, inside sales, or customer success
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline required.
Experience handling inbound leads and qualifying prospects
Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Sage, HubSpot, or similar)
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment
Preferred
Experience in the Pilates, fitness, wellness, or boutique studio industry
Familiarity with order processing, quoting, or sales operations
Understanding of consultative or solution-based selling
Comfort working with sales targets and performance metrics
