Job Overview:



The Business Development & Member Engagement Manager is a cross-functional leadership role that advances ACCA's strategic priorities of advocacy, engagement, and innovation. This position plays a vital role in fostering meaningful relationships with current and prospective members, building sector partnerships, and securing sponsorships that support ACCA events and initiatives. The Manager will ensure that the voices of members and business partners are reflected in ACCA's programs, advocacy, and services. Working collaboratively across departments and with Board Committees, the Manager supports ACCA's mission to represent, strengthen, and advance Alberta's continuing care sector.

Key Responsibilities:



Business Development

Identify and pursue strategic business opportunities by researching potential partners, sponsors, and markets that align with ACCA's mission and priorities. Targets include achieving a minimum of 30 new business partners per year and 15 voting members per year.

Develop and implement actionable business development plans to support ACCA's growth and sustainability goals, with a focus on long-term relationship building.

Cultivate and steward relationships with key stakeholders, including prospective sponsors, corporate partners, sector vendors, and business members.

Lead sponsor engagement for ACCA's signature events, including the development of sponsorship materials and customized outreach strategies.

Coordinate all aspects of the Annual Conference trade show, including exhibitor recruitment, logistics, and relationship management.

Negotiate sponsorship agreements and partnership terms, ensuring alignment with ACCA's values and delivery of mutual benefit.

Member Engagement

Conduct market scans and stakeholder research to identify prospective members, partners, and business affiliates aligned with ACCA's values and strategic priorities.

Develop and implement integrated strategies to attract, retain, and engage members, working in collaboration with the Membership Value & Engagement Committee and Director of Communications and Marketing.

Design and deliver initiatives to enhance member satisfaction, including onboarding journeys, retention campaigns, and feedback loops.

Partner with the Director of Communications and Marketing to produce and distribute timely, relevant, and targeted communications that keep members informed and connected to ACCA's work.

Work with the Director of Events and Planning to support member-focused events that build community and encourage participation, such as quarterly meetings, networking opportunities, and the ACCA Annual Conference trade show.

Respond to member inquiries and concerns with a service-oriented approach that reflects ACCA's commitment to responsiveness, professionalism, and value.

Track, analyze, and report on member engagement trends, using CRM and event participation data to identify opportunities for improvement and inform future strategy.

Other Responsibilities



Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with ACCA Directors and staff across departments--Events, Communications, Policy, and Finance--to align engagement and business development efforts with organizational goals and initiatives.

Sector Awareness and Adaptability

Stay current on industry trends, policy developments, and best practices within the continuing care sector, and adapt engagement strategies accordingly to remain relevant and impactful.

Representation and Relationship Building

Represent ACCA at conferences, trade shows, stakeholder forums, and community events, promoting the organization's values, programs, and leadership role within Alberta's continuing care system.

Actively build and enhance relationships with members, prospective partners, sponsors, and sector leaders to strengthen ACCA's profile and networks.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in business development, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, or member relations--ideally within a healthcare, non-profit, or association environment.

Demonstrated experience leading sponsorship and exhibitor recruitment for conferences, trade shows, or public-facing campaigns.

Fundraising and revenue development experience is considered a strong asset.

Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and build relationships with members, partners, and sponsors.

Skills and Attributes:



Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders across sectors.

Demonstrated success in business development and/or member engagement, with a proven ability to meet growth, sponsorship, or retention targets.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, capable of juggling multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder needs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Deep understanding of Alberta's continuing care sector, including its legislative landscape, funding challenges, and operational realities.

Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and comfort working with engagement and pipeline data to inform strategy and decision-making.

Collaborative and self-directed, with the flexibility to work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams, including Board Committees and Directors.

Confident communicator and facilitator, comfortable presenting to internal and external audiences in meetings, events, or sponsorship conversations.

Working Conditions:



Remote work arrangement, with travel required for conferences, member visits, and external meetings.

Occasional in-person attendance required for team retreats, strategic planning sessions, or site visits in Edmonton or other Alberta locations.

Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evening or weekend events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
