CWB Equipment Financing is a team of specialized individuals who know heavy equipment industries inside and out. We are not office dwellers - our crew members often start the day in a branch and end the day on-site with our clients. We are out in the community every day speaking directly with clients, and no two days are the same.

The opportunity

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a sales and financial professional accountable for growing and maintaining profitable client relationships through delivery of expert advice and highly adaptable financial solutions to business owners operating in equipment-intensive industries.

The day-to-day

Sales driven. Relationship focused. Motivated & engaged.

  • Develops and implements a personal business plan and activity-based sales strategies to deliver strong, profitable, and balanced growth of equipment loans and leases.
  • Achieve targeted growth in through sourcing and anchoring positive relationships, facilitating collaboration and cross selling that result in successful business referrals within CWB Equipment Finance and across CWB's commercial and personal banking centres.
Foundational knowledge and experience to grow with

Financial and marketing knowledge of local markets and national economies built on a foundation of formal education (business, commerce, finance, sales, marketing diploma/degree) or real-life experience (2+ years of financial services sales experience)- preferably in equipment financing and leasing). You don't need letters behind your name (CFA, CPA) but you will need the ability to understand financial statements, how to complete analysis, and possess a sound understanding of effective risk mitigation strategies. Credit adjudication experience and a basic knowledge of collateral security and documentation would be considered strong assets!

  • Client focused. Build outstanding client experiences with every interaction in line with CWB's brand promise. Provide full-service solutions for clients with the view to be every client's primary financial partner.
  • Sales driven. Create an independent marketing plan designed to achieve targeted business growth mix, with a focus on larger mid-market commercial clients
  • Relationship focused. Develop and implement a relationship strategy for each client, identifying the key issues and a strategy to facilitate the expansion of our partnership
  • Industry & Market knowledge. Maintain extensive knowledge of clients and prospects, market, competition and economic factors, alongside robust understanding of key business issues and trends within the construction, oilfield services, transportation, logging and forestry, and more.
  • Expert negotiator. Optimize business and client relationships while practicing good judgement in a highly competitive environment to make win/win determinations.
  • Risk savvy. Strongly established skills in structuring creative, competitive solutions to meet client needs and practice proactive risk management while respecting CWB policies/procedures. Proficiency and capability to develop effective risk management skills for large and complex financial services transactions in the equipment finance and/or large-ticket leasing space
  • Adaptable. Identify and respond to changes in the business environment, establishing action plans to address customer issues and priorities.
  • Brand representative. Be highly visible, crafting personal credibility and increased EFG brand awareness & presence with larger businesses and related professionals. To be known as a trusted business advisor, sought after for financial guidance.
