The Team
Global Finance & Risk Technology (GFRT) works in partnership with Finance and Global Risk Management to deliver the insights and technology solutions for analyzing and managing credit, asset/liability, liquidity risk and capital regulatory initiatives.
The Role
The Business Analysis Specialist contributes to the overall success of the GFRT team by actively supporting the Managers/Senior Managers, Operational Effectiveness & Support in day-to-day operational activities, as well as key projects and initiatives, in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The Incumbent will contribute to problem solving activities by providing production support to critical GFRT Applications within the Bank.
Some of the Key Accountabilities include:

  • Develop cost effective and efficient solutions to meet business objectives by analyzing user requirements, providing technical specifications and designs, developing detailed work-plans, scheduling technical resources, monitoring progress against plan, and developing/maintaining programs according to standards.
  • Familiar with writing BRD’s, FRD’s, User Stories, RTM, Test cases and Test Scenarios.
  • Help resolving 3rd line support issues of critical nature.
  • Implement new systems or enhancements by reviewing programs written by team members, establishing, and executing system test procedures, developing implementation plans, developing the required program and system documentation and ensuring all functionality has been delivered as required.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the Division's business strategies, business policies, financial instruments, risk management and back-office processing.
  • Participates in the investigation and resolution of application problems by:
  • working directly with Product control users to resolve end user problems.
  • effectively communicating with the users when problems occur.
  • investigating, managing of issues until resolution, and providing root cause analysis of all application problems in a timely manner.
  • month end cycles supporting is expected to be considered high priority due to more time sensitive deliverables.
  • Ensures the managers are kept informed of all unresolved issues, other areas of concern and other deviations from plans through timely and well documented reporting
  • Provide value-adding support during audit enquiries

What You Will Bring to Succeed
  • 5-8 years of Business Analyst experience (must have)
  • 5-8 years of SQL, Excel and Power Point experience (must have)
  • Capital Markets products and toolsets Exposure
  • Relationship Management Skills - As this is a User-Facing Role, resource is expected to be adept in Canadian Banking parlance and be effective in communicating to the Finance and other teams that are located in Toronto.
  • Proactive and responsive approach to problem solving in the finance & product control domain
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Product Control Domain Knowledge (good to have)
  • Understanding of IFRS Accounting Standards, Canada Local GAAP and IIROC Reporting Requirements (good to have)
