JOB SUMMARY:
An employee hired to perform duties pertaining to the management and safety of students while waiting for and boarding buses.
POSITION
: TEMPORARY until October 31, 2025 or to the return of the incumbent.
10-month position, when school is in session
HOURS OF WORK
: 7.5 Hrs/wk
WAGE RATE
: As per CUPE Local 4165 Agreement $24.20
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Grade 12 or equivalent or willing to obtain
Level 1 first aid certificate
Computer skills would be an asset.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
1. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
2. Be self-directed, work independently and/or work collegially in a team environment.
3. Effectively and appropriately manage students.
4. Solve problems related to the position.
5. Handle a variety of safety issues.
6. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions.
7. Work with disagreeable conditions from time to time.
8. Maintain confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Monitor, direct and ensure the safety of students waiting or transferring to district buses.
2. Administer first aid if required.
3. Must report unsafe conditions, including behavioural or safety concerns, to the supervisor or designate at the end of the shift.
4. Be first response for potentially serious and/or dangerous situations.
5. Maintain a high degree of active presence and wear a high-visibility vest.
6. Perform other job-related duties.
