Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and functionality in our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle various cleaning and maintenance tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:



General Maintenance:



Perform minor repairs to common areas Replace burnt out light bulbs in common areas Maintain building access points and building security by ensuring door and security hardware are always functioning properly Provide Trade access for quotes/repairs/maintenance Monitor and report major maintenance issues to the property management team Maintain organization in building mechanical & electrical rooms

Cleaning and Sanitation:



Ensure common areas (e.g., hallways, entrances, stairwells) are kept clean and tidy: Vacuum mats Wash spills/stains with soap and water Wash front door glass, and windows Dust higher areas/lobby art and tables twice a month Wipe down mailboxes and empty the recycling bin Wipe down enter phone panel and keep cobweb free Spot removal on walls as required Ensure the property grounds (eg. Garbage areas, walkways and parkade) are kept clean and tidy. Dispose of small junk items that it left on the property properly. Cardboard recycling to be broken down and placed in correct bins Report continued disposal issues (eg. recycling & garbage etc.) to the property management team. Report larger junk items that need hauling to the property management team. Leaise with junk removal company and provide access to and from the building for collection Accept deliveries of janitorial supplies to property and re-stock janitorial room

Security and Safety:



Routinely check access points to building to ensure security of the premises. Report suspicious activity or safety hazards promptly.

Groundskeeping (if applicable):



Water planters/landscaping as required in the summer months Shovel snow, salt walkways, leaf blowing and manage seasonal tasks as required

Property Management Support:



Assist the Property Management team with showings of available units Assist the Property Management team with move ins and move outs as needed Post notices in notice boards as required by the property management team Routinely monitoring vacant lockers, parking stalls and vacant units and report issues or infractions to the property management team Install elevator pads and remove when requested by property management team Accept deliveries of appliances and maintenance inventory items to the building and direct delivery drivers to relevant storage areas Attend monthly building inspections with the property management team and implement changes and address deficiencies as requested Fill out and submit monthly reports to the property management team Provide access to contractors and escort them through apartments and building common areas for annual maintenance, including but not limited to annual fire inspections, quarterly HVAC & Boiler maintenance, Monthly elevator maintenance, dryer vent cleaning, window washing etc.

After Hours Work:



Will require on-call availability for emergency triage Will require availability to work some weekends and weeknights to accommodate unit showings/move ins/move outs

Working Conditions:



Work may be both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Some lifting, climbing, and use of tools is required

Experience



Previous experience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with commercial cleaning practices and safety protocols is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining a clean environment. Physically fit and able to carry out manual labor
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12-24 months

Pay: $2,500.00 per month

Expected hours: 18 - 24 per week
